{the journey back to Berk}

Crouching over my way too oversized suitcase at LAX airport, I began frantically removing all the heaviest items I can as the overly friendly UNITED airlines employee loomed over me. As they weigh my bag, “14 pounds overweight” flashes across the screen and to think I had thought I had under packed for my 2.5 week adventure across the Atlantic Ocean. England had always been on my list of places to see, and now I was finally going to see it in an experience that I had no idea was about to change my life forever! Minus a couple pair of boots, heavier jackets, and some random toiletries that I hurriedly pulled from my suitcase I now met my minimum weight requirement and my bag was CLEARED to fly! Nothing could stop me now, I was OFF leaving my amazingly supportive husband, and 5 year old twin boys behind to fend for themselves, as this nervous but VERY excited Mama was off to meet the only living descendant of the exercise guru Lotte Berk. Her name is Esther Fairfax and we had been talking on the phone for several months, as I had read her book, “My Improper Mother and Me” and became VERY interested in the original teachings of her mother. Esther is 80 years old and living in England, and still practices Lotte’s original technique that literally spawned the entire Barre fitness industry in America today and I am about to find out WHY…
